Wendel Spier
She was born
in Java in 1975 from Indonesian, Chinese
and French parents. As child she had her feet firmly on the ground and as
therapy it was suggested that she start dancing.
Encouraged by
her dancing instructor, she attended the Royal Conservatory in the Hague from the age of
eleven.
Because her
feet could not get used to the ballet shoes, she enrolled in an institute for
jazz theatre, where, for her own social security, she followed teacher
training.
But her heart
was drawn to cross-over theatre – which acts as a synthesis between Oriental
and Western art.
Wendel Spier
has been described as the Lotus flower of the Dutch dance theatre. |
